Deactivation study of a heteropolyacid catalyst for glycerol dehydration to form acrolein

Résumé

Gas-phase glycerol dehydration to form acrolein over a heteropolyacid catalyst has been studied to understand the rapid deactivation process. The decrease in the conversion as a function of time was observed depending on operating conditions. The experiments were performed in an isothermal fixed bed reactor for eight hours. The influence of temperature, residence time, glycerol concentration, water concentration and oxygen concentration was studied. Next, a global kinetic equation for the deactivation was proposed for the studied experimental conditions.
